Present
“I’ve been unsure about many things in my life except that I have always loved him. Every single minute of every single day that I have been on this earth, my heart has belonged to him.”
Amanda and Noah have been best friends since the day they were born. They are each others world. Amanda has always felt that she fell in comparison to her perfect sister. Present Perfect shows the battle of self-confidence, acceptance, and more. Over the years Noah and Amanda share some soul shattering memories to stay in each others lives.
WOW! So this book was a tear-jerk-er and I loved every single moment of it. I loved how this book wasn't your typical best friend romance. The reason for the two characters not being together had nothing to do with lack of communication at all. It went deeper than that. The author creates Amanda as a insecure girl who thinks she deserves less for herself. This theme is something I think a lot of people can relate to them. I think of the quote "We accept the love we think we deserve" from Perks Of a Wallflower. Amanda doesn't think she deserves Noah.
I could see where other readers could have not liked Amanda's character but I loved her. Though she had poor self-confidence and didn't believe she was good enough for the boy she loved, I felt that I could relate to her. She wasn't someone things came easy to, at all. She had to work to get everything she had.
One cheesy thing I love is when an author makes a reference to other book:

"I reached over and grabbed my ear buds off the nightstand, crammed them into my ears, and connected them to my cellphone. The D-Bags blasted through my head. Kellan’s voice always soothed me. I closed my eyes and tried to concentrate on the lyrics."I have only read the first book in the Thoughtless series so far but I recognized the reference right off the back.
I recommend this book if you love best friends falling in love, new adult, and tearful reads (lots of tears).
