Book Review: The Party Girl

Pages: 227

"Noah had never admired someone as much as he did Kendra in that moment. To look at her, one would assume she didn't even eat Jello-O, let alone attack it. She was a woman of untold depths."

Kendra Khuso is a 30-something successful woman. She has a the looks, brains, and a great job. She doesn't need a man to make her happy so she doesn't do relationships only flings. That all changes when she meets Noah.

Noah is a mountain man. He lives alone in the middle of nowhere free from temptations. When Kendra shows up at his door in a sexy robe with his best friend Lincoln, she becomes a new temptation for Noah. Noah know that Lincoln is in love with Kendra. Even though Noah's chemistry with Kendra is blazing hot, his loyalty to his friends is beyond that attraction.

This story was good. It was a nice fun read. Nothing dark or emotional but none-the-less good. I really like the plot of the book. It even had it's funny moments (the quote above). I didn't have the urgency to read this book that I usually have when I love a book. It started off a bit slow, but the middle and end made up for it.

I liked the characters but didn't love them. Kendra was an interesting character. I found my self loving some of her personality traits and hating others. Noah on the other hand had a boring personality to be honest.  He was hot don't get me wrong but he lack a bit of book boyfriend quality.

I would recommend this book to those who like mountain men,
 and contemporary romances.

Perfect Pitch

*ARC from the author for a honest review

Decription:
"Reigning beauty queen Samantha Winger is launching her pet project, a music program for kids. All she has to do is follow the pageant’s rules—no smoking, drinking, or “cavorting” in public.
That’s fine, until D.J. Thomas—God’s gift to baseball—throws her a wild pitch.  He slams her in an interview, and the video goes viral. Sam’s no shrinking violet. She parlays D.J.’s apology into a national T.V. appearance—and a very unexpected, very public kiss.
Soon, paparazzi catch the couple in a steamy make-out session, and Sam’s music program is on the block. The blazing hot relationship is threatened even more when D.J.’s son begs to trade in Little League for music class.
Can Sam and D.J. sizzle past the sour notes and find their perfect pitch?"

Book Review: Something Like Normal

imageimage
Read: June 2013

“I don't know if my life will ever be completely normal again, but something like normal is a good start.”

Travis Stephenson comes home to a place that doesn’t feel like home anymore after being in Afghanistan for a year with haunting nightmares of the Marines. 19 years old and he has already experienced more than his overbearing, retired Green Bay Packers football player, father. Not only is his dad acting more like a douche bag since he has come home but his mother is a mess and his brother Ryan has stolen Travis’ friends, car, and girlfriend Paige.

Something Like Normal has been on my to-read list since March and with my ever-growing list i just forgot about it.

Travis has a month to adjust to being at home until he goes back to the Marines, but Travis is having a hard time dealing with being home after his best friend Charlie dies in combat. Not feeling like he fits in at home anymore he find comfort with Harper, the girl who hated him when they were in school.

This book was really good. I liked how it was told by Travis first person. In many book were the male protagonist is dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder you see them as very irrational and Travis was most definitely rational. You can also see the character development with his character without the back story of his life before the war, and Travis is a good guy.

The relationship that Travis and Harper share was not as strong as I would have liked it to be, but I did like them as a couple. Harper is everything Paige isn’t and that’s why Travis falls in love with her.
I do have to say that I hated Ryan. I think I even hate him more than his father. Travis’ relationship with Ryan was never resolved and that really disappointed me. Ryan seemed to be the misunderstood younger brother but he is just a genuine asshole. He seems fine with stealing everything from his brother and even threatened to ruin Travis’ relationship with Harper.

Though there was a lack of sexiness I expected from a hot Marine, I enjoyed this read.

Recommend if you like army-men, young adult, and when hero and heroine reunite.

Book Review: Jet

image

image

Read: July 2013

“I think we’re both actually pretty screwed up, but together we just work and we make each other better.”

Jet is the sequel to Rule but this time it tells Ayden and Jet’s story. Ayden and Jet are friends and roommates but they have an undeniable attraction towards one another. It has been a year since metal head Jet turned down southern sweetheart Ayden for a night of fun and with Ayden troubled past she thinks it was for the best. Unable to stay away from each other, they finally hook-up but with no strings attached. Now Ayden is struggling to deal with her old self and new self around Jet. And Jet is trying to deal with his deadbeat dad and mother who won’t leave him, when all he wants is forever with Ayden.

This second novel in the Marked Men series is seriously just as hot as the first. I completely fell in love with Jet as I had with Rule (There is just something about hot men with ink!). Plus Jet is the hot and sexy rock star with goals… A+. I did really like Ayden for the most part but I struggled to see her point of view at first when she broke up with Jet. Though when she is talk to Jet before he leaves she thinks “But then he would just want to fix it and there was no fixing Asa, and no going back in time and fixing the girl I used to be.” She was afraid of being the person she was with Jet and didn’t think there was anyway to fix that even if she did love him.

I loved loved loved this book! I would so recommend this book to you if you like new adult books with some smut, but I would read Rule first even though you can read this book as a stand alone. I cannot wait for the next book Rome which will be about Rome, Rule’s older bother, after he comes home for good after being in Afghanistan and Cora, the pixie that works at the Marked tattoo shop, is looking for the perfect guy, after a heartbreak. YAY!

I recommend if you like erotica, men with tats, guys in a band, and roommate falling in love READ!

Book Review: Remy

image

“You’re my Real, little firecracker. You’re my everything.

Remington Tate and Brooke Dumas’ story continues. Remy is the third book in Katy Evans’ Real series. In this novel the story is told by hunky fighter Remington Tate in the past and present.
On goodreads it seems that either you love this series or you hate it. I’ve rated all of the past series 4 stars, so over all I really liked this book and it’s characters.

Something about male point of views just amuse me so much I had a hard time putting the book down.

I really enjoyed the format of this book. It sorta reminded me of This Girl by Colleen Hoover, and I’m not saying that in a bad way.

I did like it however I felt that the story was missing something, and I think that might be the lack of dialogue. Reading Remy was nice and all but it the lack of dialogue between Remington and Brooke made their insta-love seem out there.

There were some ups and downs with this series and I’m glad I stuck it through. There are also going to be a forth on Melanie’s story and fifth book for Pandora’s which I will had to my to read list.

Recommended if you like fighters, alpha males, smut, and male pov’s.

Book Review: Purely Professional

 19372737

**I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review**

Bridget is a journalist for Sultry magazine and writes about sex even though she hasn't had any for a year. Bridget gets a new boss and is told to spice things up, so she decides to do an article on BDSM. When she meets up with the guy she's interviewing for her article she is surprised to see that he is her neighbor Max. After the article become a hit Bridget convinces Max to teach her about BDSM for her blog.

The book started off really good! I loved the whole idea of Bridget learning about BSDM from her hot neighbor.

After about 31% into the book I wasn't as into it as I thought I'd be. Ironically I felt Bridget and Max's relationship fizzle when they started their relationship. I was a little disappointed because it had so much potential. I really liked the characters but I felt their chemistry was lacking big time.

The story wasn't as hot , emotional, or even funny. I really wish i would give this book a higher rating but it wasn't as good as I hoped.
