Book Review: Unteachable

 Read: Aug. 2013

“There are moments, when you’re getting to know someone, when you realize something deep and buried in you is deep and buried in them, too. It feels like meeting a stranger you’ve known your whole life.”

(This novel contains graphic sexual content and strong language. It is intended for mature readers.)

Maise likes older men. She is mature for her age and blames her dead beat dad for her screwed up attraction. When Maise meets Evan she feels a connection with him and he with her. Though the connection was too  intense and had Maise running, she decides to clean up her act. That is until she walks into her film class and see that Evan is her new teacher Mr. Wilke.

WOW This book was fantastic! This book is definitely not your typical student teacher romance novel. I have to admit that I am a sucker for the teacher student relationship themed books, but this one was remarkably different. I really enjoyed that it wasn’t about the constant resistance from either of them. I also like to read about lovers with an age difference, because like in this novel you really couldn’t sense the difference in age which was quite bigger than the usual teacher student relationship. But it made the book all that more steamy.

The book was just as emotional as it was hot. Maise really struggles to find herself while dealing with so many other factors that aren’t working for her.

It’s the author’s debut novel and I cannot wait to read more from her.

I recommend this book for those who like teacher-student relationships, new adult, and smut.
