Book Review: In Too Deep

image
**Arc received from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

"Because she owned him now, each disconnected part of his heart made whole by her claiming. There was no retreat, so he didn’t hold anything back. Frustration, need, desire, denial, desperation. Love. Everything he had inside, he gave to her. Trapped by her soul-filled eyes, West let go, trusting instinct and emotion to carry them both home."

Piper Harland lives in Wellington, New Zealand as a cop for the National Dive Squad. When Piper get a call from her sister that her brother is having financial issues, she returns home to Stewart Island. Piper hasn’t been home in 9 years ever since her first love broke her heart and her father passed away. Now Piper has to deal with West, her brother’s best friend and the boy who broke her heart, for 6 weeks while helping out her brother.

Okay this is the third book this month I have read with the concept of someone leaving then coming back many years later and I think this one was the best. Is the story original? No but that didn’t make me not enjoy the book. It actually had me comparing to the other books I’ve read like this one (Under the Orange Moon and Him.)

The author is clearly talented and able to make this story special and stand out from the others for me. I liked how it was told in third person and switched off between third person from Pipers perspective and  West’s.

The story was heart-warming and gave a small-town feel that got me really into the characters and their struggles.

There will be more book and the Due South based off the other character in the book. Book 2: Melting Into You will be Ben and Kezia’s story. I am excited after reading the excerpt that the end of In Too Deep.

I recommend this book to those who like when the heroine falls in love with her brother’s best friend, reunited stories, and love-hate relationships.
